An unexpected Liam Neeson sequel surprised everyone this week when it suddenly appeared on Netflix seemingly out of nowhere and to say it’s been a hit is a little bit of an understatement. Ice Road: Vengeance, the sequel to Neeson’s 2021 action film The Ice Road, has been dominating Netflix — no small task for a movie that arrived with almost no buzz and after being largely forgotten at the box office when it was released theatrically back in June. But now that it’s on streaming, it seems like fans can’t get enough and might even be looking for more to watch once the adventure ends.

A high-octane action thriller, Ice Road: Vengeance follows Neeson’s Mike McCann, an expert ice road trucker who finds himself on a life-or-death mission when his effort to scatter his late brother’s ashes on Mount Everest leads to him being hunted down by mercenaries. The movie has themes of vengeance, survival, and lots of action in the brutal elements making for an intense actioner and if you’re looking for more after ice Road: Vengeance’s credits roll, we have you covered with three, must-see action movies you can stream right on Netflix.

The sequel to 2020’s Extraction (which you should also watch), Extraction 2 stars Marvel Cinematic Universe favorite Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a former Australian SASR Operator turned black ops mercenary. After surviving his mission in Dhaka in Extraction, Tyler recovers from his injuries and retires from the mercenary life. However, he’s contacted by a stranger who asks him to rescue his ex-wife’s sister and her two kids who happen to be the family of a crime lord who are trying to escape. The film is action packed with some intense scenes as Tyler works to rescue the woman and her children, fighting corrupt soldiers and crime syndicate forces in the process. While Extraction 2 is quite different from Ice Road: Vengeance, there’s the elements of doing something in the name of family that makes the film a great watch if you enjoyed the film.

2) Triple Frontier

Released in 2019, another great action flick to watch after Ice Road: Vengeance is Triple Frontier. Starring Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund, and Pedro Pascal, Triple Frontier follows a group of former U.S. Army Delta Force operators who come back together to plan a heist to take down a South American drug lord. Like Ice Road: Vengeance, the geography in Triple Frontier plays a role in the action — specifically with the crew having to fight their way through hostile territory. The film also features a pretty great car chase and some epic shootouts making it a great action watch.

1) The Mother

If you’ve already enjoyed one hit action movie on Netflix, you should definitely queue up another and what better choice than the film that is the sixth most watched Netflix movie of all time? Released in 2023, The Mother stars Jennifer Lopez as “the Mother”, a U.S. military operative who comes out of hiding after the daughter she gave up is kidnapped. Like Ice Road: Vengeance, The Mother has no shortage of action and also has that tie to family as the reason why our protagonist finds themselves in the thick of the action.
