4 New Christmas Movies to Watch on Prime Video This Holiday Season
Christmas lights are being hung, temperatures are dropping and snow is beginning to fall, which can only mean one thing: holiday movie marathon season has officially arrived.
This November and December, a fresh batch of festive films is arriving across streaming platforms — and Prime Video has its own lineup of brand-new Christmas movies to add to your watchlist. From holidays gone wrong to rekindled romances, four new Prime Video originals are here to help you get into the spirit of the season.
Prime Video’s holiday lineup will see some of the biggest stars from Hollywood embrace the festivities, including New Girl‘s Zooey Deschanel, Daredevil‘s Charlie Cox, Hairspray‘s Michelle Pfeiffer and The Brutalist‘s Felicity Jones.
Rounding out the slate is a heartwarming documentary that follows five New York City tree-vendor families as they work through the bustling holiday season, offering an inside look at the people who help bring Christmas cheer to the city’s streets.
Here’s everything to know about the new Christmas movies coming to Prime Video in 2025.

From director Tyler Perry, Finding Joy — which hit the streamer on Nov. 5 — follows Joy (Shannon Thornton), a New York fashion designer who heads to Colorado for the holidays in pursuit of her crush, Colton (Aaron O’Connell).
But when a shocking revelation leaves her stranded in a snowstorm, the romance-novel enthusiast suddenly finds herself living out a tale of her own when she finds unexpected company in a man named Ridge (Tosin Morohunfola).

Nothing signals the holiday season quite like a little family chaos — and Oh. What. Fun. delivers plenty of it.
Released on Prime Video on Dec. 3, the comedy stars Pfeiffer as Claire Clauster, the family matriarch who typically acts as the glue of her dysfunctional family amid the annual festivities.
This year, though, the holiday doesn’t exactly go according to plan, as her family accidentally leaves her home alone after she’s planned a special outing. Feeling fed up and under appreciated, Claire embarks on an adventure of her own.
Pfeiffer is joined by a star-studded cast that includes Jones, Chloë Grace Moretz, Denis Leary, Dominic Sessa, Danielle Brooks, Devery Jacobs, Maude Apatow, Jason Schwartzman and Eva Longoria.
Merv
Wilson Webb/Prime
Who better to bring two exes back together for the holidays than a dog?
Merv, which will be released on the streaming platform on Dec. 10, follows exes Anna (Deschanel) and Russ (Cox) as they navigate an awkward co-parenting arrangement after their split and try to help their beloved dog, Merv, rediscover his spark.
When Russ whisks Merv away on a Florida getaway, the plan goes off course when Anna unexpectedly crashes the trip, turning the vacation into a holiday reunion for the former couple.

The Merchants of Joy follows five families of Christmas die-hards — and competing New York City tree vendors — as they transform the sidewalks into holiday outposts amid the season.
The documentary, which hit the streamer on Dec. 1, follows along as the festive families source, sell and safeguard a family tradition that now faces some new challenges.
