5 Members of Marvel’s Spider-Family Who Need To Appear in a Live-Action Movie
The Spider-Man brand is more popular than ever. With Peter Parker being under the Marvel Studios umbrella, he gets to run around with other notable heroes. Spider-Man: Brand New Day alone will see the Wall-Crawler team up with both the Hulk and the Punisher, and the fun isn’t going to stop there. With a Tony Stark lookalike about to join the fray, there’s sure to be a role for Spider-Man in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Avengers movies. Avengers: Secret Wars, in particular, is a project that the hero should have his eye on because, in the comic book version of the story, he stumbles upon the symbiote for the first time.
Any time that Spider-Man spends with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is sure to be memorable. However, it’s time for Peter to start building relationships with characters who can relate to him. Here are five members of Marvel’s Spider-Family who need to appear in a live-action movie.
5) Kaine Parker

For whatever reason, villains think that cloning Spider-Man will get them one step closer to defeating him. Jackal repeats the process multiple times because his first attempt, Kaine Parker, doesn’t meet his standards. Kaine is a bit of a mess, feeling rejected by both his creator and the hero he looks like. All that pent-up rage drives him to seek revenge and inflict pain on anyone who crosses him.
Kaine doesn’t stay bad forever, though. Eventually, he turns over a new leaf, dons the Scarlet Spider mantle, and joins the New Warriors. Since the live-action movies have yet to explore any cloning storylines, they can kick things off with the original.
4) Miles Morales

Miles Morales is getting plenty of shine on the big screen. He’s the star of two animated films and has another one on the way, which will see him try to escape an alternate reality where he’s not Spider-Man but the Prowler. By the time Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse concludes, it might feel like all of the Miles ground has been covered, but that won’t be the case.
Marvel Comics has given Miles enough time to shine that a live-action movie can tell an entirely different story than the one in the Spider-Verse films. The MCU feels like a natural spot for him because he was teased all the way back in Spider-Man: Homecoming. It may take a few more years for his live-action debut, but Miles is coming; there’s no doubt about it.
3) Mayday Parker

Peter and his significant others don’t have a good track record on the big screen. In Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, Mary Jane Watson and Peter can never seem to get things right, and The Amazing Spider-Man films kill off Gwen Stacy. Even the MCU gives Spider-Man relationship trouble by making his girlfriend, Michelle Jones, forget he exists. Fortunately, the comic books exist, and some of them give the hero a happy ending.
In one reality, Peter and MJ have a daughter named Mayday Parker. While they want to keep her far away from crime-fighting, she begins to develop powers and takes to the streets anyway. Rumors are circulating that Sadie Sink could be playing a version of Mayday in Brand New Day, but no one who knows the truth is willing to corroborate the report. Even if she isn’t, though, there should still be room for the character in live-action.
2) Ben Reilly

The second Spider-Man clone proves to be everything that the first is not. Jackal attempts to pit Ben Reilly against his doppelganger, but the situation blows up in his face. Reilly becomes Peter’s ally, even taking over for him as Spider-Man for a brief period of time. When he’s in his element, Reilly operates as the Scarlet Spider and protects the world from devastation.
A moody version of Reilly, voiced by Andy Samberg, is one of the standout characters in Across the Spider-Verse. However, he’s far less interesting than his comic book counterpart, which means the live-action movies still have a chance to do him justice. Unfortunately, his arrival might have to wait until Peter is getting ready to hang up his costume.
1) Jessica Drew

Madame Web features a version of Spider-Woman, but not the most notable one. Jessica Drew is one of the most important members of the Spider-Family, frequently appearing as a member of the Avengers and serving as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Since her stories don’t usually rely on Peter, there’s so much the live-action movies can do with her.
The Avengers are in a strange place in the MCU, but they’re still looking for new members. If Spider-Man doesn’t want to return to their ranks, Spider-Woman would be a natural replacement. There may even be a successful solo film career in the cards for her if everything goes smoothly.
