Denis Villeneuve’s directorial Dune 2 is shining bright at the North American box office. The epic science fiction film has completed over three weeks in theatres, but the momentum continues to stay strong. Dune: Part Two revolves around Paul Atreides uniting with the Fremen people of Arrakis to fight House Harkonnen. The pre-release hype was pretty strong, and the earth-shattering results were seen during the first weekend. The film exceeded expectations and continues to do so despite a 23-day long run at the box office.
Dune 2 Domestic Box Office Collection
As per Deadline, Dune: Part Two has added another $4.5 million at the North American box office on Friday. This surges up its overall total to an impressive $220 million. With that, Timothee Chalamet gets new highest-grossing domestic film of his career.
Previously, the Paul King directorial Wonka was Timothee Chalamet’s highest-grossing film in North America. The sci-fi had added a total of $218 million in its lifetime. It had left Interstellar (2014) behind during its theatrical run, which had grossed $188 million.
Dune 2 at the Worldwide Box Office
A massive milestone was unlocked when the second installment crossed the $500 million mark globally last Monday. It currently stands at $520 million+, and the run has yet to be concluded.
At the worldwide box office, Interstellar is Timothee Chalamet’s highest-grossing film of all time with earnings of $681 million. Wonka is placed second on the list and stands at $629.7 million.
Although the gap is considerable, whether Dune 2 will be able to unlock these milestones in its lifetime run is to be seen. However, Interstellar looks out of the league at this point!
