Here is every song on the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 soundtrack, Awesome Mix Vol. 3. Every movie in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy features a carefully curated set list of songs that perfectly pairs with the adventure that the characters embark on. Marvel Studios has released new Awesome Mix albums alongside each Guardians of the Galaxy film, containing every song featured in James Gunn’s MCU projects. While Gunn’s previous Marvel Studios projects have used music from the 1960s, ’70s, and ’80s, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s soundtrack includes a number of much more modern songs.

The previous Guardians of the Galaxy films’ music choices were informed by the year Peter Quill was abducted from Earth in the MCU timeline, with Awesome Mix Vol. 1 and 2 featuring songs released before 1988. In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, however, Star-Lord is gifted a Zune, a rival to the iPod, which was released between 2006 and 2012, allowing for a wider range of songs for the third outing – and providing a suitable sendoff to the concept, as the new Guardians of the Galaxy team may not mirror this series trend. The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 soundtrack includes 17 songs as part of Awesome Mix Vol. 3. James Gunn continued his practice of incorporating the songs into the film’s script, and providing actors with a playlist that they could listen to on set to get a full picture of the music’s impact.

The director also revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s songs were the hardest to choose thanks to the vast music library now at his disposal. While some of these songs are lesser-known, each one packs an important message for the story that unfolds in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Here’s the full list.

• “Creep (Acoustic)” by Radiohead (1993) plays in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s opening moments, and Rocket even sings along as audiences are brought back to Knowhere, the Guardians’ headquarters.
• “Crazy on You” by Heart (1975) plays during Will Poulter’s introduction as Adam Warlock, as he bursts into Knowhere and attacks the Guardians of the Galaxy on the hunt for Rocket.
• “Since You’ve Been Gone” by Rainbow (1979) plays when the Guardians of the Galaxy head to the Orgoscope to save Rocket after Adam Warlock’s brutal attack. This song was also featured in the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 that released in February 2023.
• “In The Meantime” by Spacehog (1995) plays while the Guardians of the Galaxy infiltrate the Orgoscope in their colored spacesuits. “In the Meantime” was also featured in the first official trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, released in December 2022.
• “Reasons” by Earth, Wind & Fire (1975) plays when Groot starts up the Bowie to save the Guardians of the Galaxy during the battle in the Orgoscope. “Reasons” also plays when Peter Quill sabotages the Orgo-Sentry suits, allowing the team to escape.
• “Do You Realize??” by The Flaming Lips (2002) was used as the music for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s trailer for 2022’s SDCC. In the film, Peter listens to “Do You Realize??” while the Guardians travel to meet the High Evolutionary on Counter-Earth before he’s interrupted by Drax.
• “We Care a Lot” by Faith No More (1985) plays when the Guardians of the Galaxy arrive on Counter-Earth.
• “Koinu no Carnival (From Minute Waltz)” by Ehamic (2018) plays on the car radio as Peter, Nebula, and Groot drive to the High Evolutionary’s base of operations on Counter-Earth.
• “I’m Always Chasing Rainbows” by Alice Cooper (1976) plays on the Bowie while the Guardians are away. It could be assumed that the Guardians left this playing so that Rocket would have music to listen to, even though he was barely conscious.
• “San Francisco” by The Mowgli’s (2012) plays when Gamora pilots the Bowie – almost killing Peter and Groot.
• “Poor Girl” by X (1983) plays in Knowhere while various residents are playing a game of poker, including Cosmo, Kraglin, the Broker, Howard the Duck, and Rhett Miller’s Bzermikitokolok.
• “This Is the Day” by The The (1983) plays when the Guardians travel to save Nebula, Drax, and Mantis from the High Evolutionary, and also when Kraglin pilots Knowhere through the jump-point.
• “No Sleep Till Brooklyn” by Beastie Boys (1986) plays when the Guardians of the Galaxy come together to battle the High Evolutionary and his creations in an epic hallway battle.
• “Dog Days Are Over” by Florence + the Machine (2008) plays during the final celebration of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and causes all the Guardians, even Drax (Dave Bautista), to get up and have one last dance together.
• “I Will Dare” by The Replacements (1984) plays over the first credits sequence, just before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s mid-credits scene.
• “Come and Get Your Love” by Redbone (1974) plays during Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s mid-credits scene, as Rocket reminisces about his time with the original Guardians team, while the new iteration of the team prepare for a mission.
• “Badlands” by Bruce Springsteen (1978) plays over the final credits sequence, before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s post-credits scene.

Even with a wider range of songs available for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, James Gunn still primarily chose songs from the 1970s and ’80s. 11 of the songs were released before Peter Quill left Earth, meaning he could still have memories of them.

The most recent song featured in the soundtrack is “Koinu no Carnival (From Minute Waltz).” The soundtrack only includes one song featured in an earlier installment, as Redbone’s “Come and Get Your Love” is the final main song featured in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, calling back to one of the first songs heard in the original Guardians of the Galaxy.

There are plenty of ways to listen to the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 soundtrack. Disney has created playlists featuring every song from the franchise on Apple Music and Spotify. Those wanting to add Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: Awesome Mix Vol. 3 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to their physical music collections can buy the CD on May 3, 12″ 2-LP vinyl on May 5, and cassette on July 7. The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 soundtrack will also be accompanied by the release of John Murphy’s original score for the movie.
