However, the film’s execution fell flat for many viewers. The plot meandered, the humour landed with a thud, and the action sequences lacked any real punch. ‘Liger’ might have aimed for a high-energy experience, but it ended up leaving audiences feeling exhausted (and perhaps a little embarrassed).
‘Shamshera’ (2022) (IMDb Rating: 5.5)
Starring Ranbir Kapoor as a Robin Hood-esque character, ‘Shamshera’ aimed for a period action drama with a dash of social commentary. Unfortunately, the film’s ambitious scope wasn’t matched by its execution. The historical setting felt flimsy, the action sequences were uninspired, and the emotional core of the story remained underdeveloped. While some viewers appreciated the film’s attempt at a grand historical drama, others found it a tedious watch.
‘Good Luck Jerry’ (2022) (IMDb Rating: 6.2)
This dark comedy starring the talented Janhvi Kapoor (Janhvi Kapoor Is Killing The Fashion Industry With Her Ethnic Looks) offered a refreshing change of pace. The story follows a young woman who gets embroiled in the world of drug trafficking. While the premise had potential, the film’s execution was uneven. The humour often felt crass, the plot developments were predictable, and the ending felt rushed. Despite its flaws, ‘Good Luck Jerry’s dark humour and Kapoor’s performance earned it a mixed bag of reviews, with some finding it cringe-worthy and others appreciating its boldness.
‘Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva’ (2022) (IMDb Rating: 5.6)
We can’t talk about ‘Brahmastra’ without mentioning the now-infamous overuse of the name “Shiva” by Alia Bhatt’s character. This repetitive dialogue became an annoyance for many viewers. This ambitious fantasy adventure film aimed to be a game-changer for Bollywood. Featuring high-budget visual effects and a star-studded cast, Brahmastra promised a superhero origin story set in a world of ancient Indian mythology.
However, the film received mixed reviews. While some praised the visuals and the underlying mythology, others found the plot convoluted, the characters underdeveloped, and the CGI effects lacking polish. Brahmastra might not be the worst offender on this list, but it certainly falls into the “could have been better” category for many viewers.
