The wait is finally over and the 10th film in the long-running Fast and Furious franchise is releasing on May 19. The action-adventure thriller has been entertaining the audience with adrenaline-fuelled action, nail-biting car chase sequences, and jaw-dropping stunts. And, if you are fond of villains and heroes committing crimes in cars, then the following action-thrillers should be on your watch list.

1. Drive Angry – MX Player

Nicolas Cage stars as John Milton, a dead man returning to Earth from Hell to save his baby granddaughter. He escapes with the Godkiller, Satan’s gun, to execute Jonah King, who had killed Milton’s daughter and son-in-law and leads a satanic cult. Milton enlists the help of a waitress, Piper (Amber Heard) to track Jonah. Their mission is jeopardised when Satan sends his assistant, The Accountant, to retrieve the Godkiller and drag Milton back to Hell. The intriguing plot will keep you engaged with high-octane action.

2. Death Proof – Amazon Prime Video, MX Player

The action-thriller boasts an ensemble cast featuring Kurt Russell, Rosario Dawson, Quentin Tarantino, Vanessa Ferlito, Zoe Bell, and Sydney Tamiia Poitier among others. The plot follows Mike McKay (Russell), a stuntman who kills young women with his modified, ‘death proof’ cars. He somehow manages to slip through the clutches of the police. But, he finds his match in three women – Abernathy Ross, Lee Montgomery, and Kim Mathis – whom he targets but becomes hunted when he kills one of their friends. The surviving two along with Zoe Bell join hands to put an end to Mike’s carnage.

3. Mad Max: Fury Road – Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV

Headlined by Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, this fourth instalment in the action-thriller franchise is set in a post-apocalyptic world with an acute shortage of water and petrol. Tom plays Max Rockatansky (previously essayed by Mel Gibson) who teams up with Imperator Furiosa (Charlize) to bring down Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne), a cult leader. The battle takes place on the road with chase scenes in huge, modified cars and bikes raising the action quotient. The war for survival escalates when Joe learns that five of his wives are escaping in Imperator’s tanker.

4. Trading Paint – MX Player

This sports action drama stars John Travolta, Michael Madsen, Toby Sebastian, and Shania Twain in pivotal roles. The movie revolves around the tumultuous relationship between father-son duo Sam (John) and Cam (Toby). Sam is a former racing legend and Cam is making his way into the racing track. Frustrated over the lack of funding and scared of losing, Cam leaves his father’s team to take up a place in his rival, Bob Linksy’s, team. Sam decides to come out of retirement and get on the track once again. However, Cam’s accident brings a positive change in their relationship and the duo team up to beat Bob in his own game.

5. Turbo – Amazon Prime Video, YouTube

This fun, animated sports film will keep you glued to the screen as you follow the adventures of a garden snail, Theo, aka Turbo. Theo wants to become a racer like his idol Guy Gagné, an Indy-500 champion. He is treated as an outcast because of his obsession. A freak accident leaves him with the power of superspeed and the features of a car. He then uses his power to make his dream come true. The plot then focuses on his various misadventures.

6. Dhoom trilogy – Amazon Prime Video, YouTube

This Bollywood action-thriller sort of became an equivalent of Hollywood’s Fast and Furious. The first movie introduced the viewers to a biker gang committing heists and escaping in modified superfast bikes. Abhishek Bachchan plays Jai Dixit, Assistant Commissioner of Police Officer, and Uday Chopra as Ali Akbar Fateh Khan biker racer, teaming up to catch the gang. John Abraham plays the villain in the first film. The second film sees Jai and Ali embarking on a new mission to track an international thief, Mr A (Hrithik Roshan). The third film featured Aamir Khan in a dual role as Sahir/Samar Khan, owner of a circus, who commits bank heists to avenge his father’s death. Over the years the franchise became synonymous with amazing action sequences and superstars playing antagonists.

7. Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) – Google Play Movies, YouTube, Apple TV

The plot follows Kip Raines (Giovanni Ribisi), a car thief, who works for a British gangster, Raymond Calitri (Christopher Eccleston) and steals high-end luxury cars for his gang. Kip lands in trouble with the gangster when he inadvertently leads the police to his warehouse after he steals a Porsche. The police seal the place and secure the stolen cars causing Calitri to hold Kip captive. Calitri reaches out to Kip’s older brother and former car thief, Memphis (Nicolas Cage), to steal the 50 cars that the police have captured. He allows him 72 hours to get the cars in exchange for sparring Kip’s life. Memphis assembles a team of highly-qualified thieves to rescue his brother.
