Pushpa 2 is the most hyped movie of 2024. Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil’s film has the most trending Teaser of 2024 so far. Every day, we are reading news items on how digital, satellite and TV rights of Pushpa 2 are being bought at never-heard before amounts. Pushpa 2 sees Allu Arjun back as Pushparaj as he builds his supremacy over the business of smuggling red sandalwood found in the forests of South India.

Pushpa 2 makers laughing their way to the bank?
Three to four days back, news came that Anil Thadani has bought rights of four big South Indian movies Pushpa 2, Devara, Game Changer and Kalki 2898 AD. It seems he purchased the North India (Hindi) distribution rights of Pushpa 2 for Rs 200 crores. While no one has officially confirmed the figures but it is huge. As per a report in Navbharat Times, the distribution rights for South India were sold at Rs 270 crores. Overseas, Pushpa 2 has been sold for Rs 100 crores. This means that the movie has already fetched Rs 570 crores for the makers without any theatrical business.
Pushpa 2: Huge sums came in from OTT and satellite rights?
As per reports, Netflix has agreed to pay Mythri Movie Makers Rs 275 crores for the global OTT rights of Pushpa 2. This is the highest for any movie from South India. It can even go upto Rs 300 crores as per some sources depending on actual box office of the film. The satellite rights for Telugu are bought by Star Maa. Even the audio rights have gone for a whopping sum. The combined numbers from satellite and audio rights are close to Rs 450 crores.
Pushpa 2 overtakes RRR and KGF 2
Pushpa 2 is made on a budget that is slightly lower than SS Rajamouli’s RRR. It seems Allu Arjun and team have spent around Rs 500 crores. It includes a song sequence, which alone costs close to Rs 60 crores.
KGF 2 had made Rs 375 crores just from global theatrical rights. It was made at a much cheaper cost. The worldwide blockbuster RRR did pre-release business of Rs 500 crores. But Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 is already way ahead of them. The movie is coming on the Independence Day weekend.
