Vishal Dadlani recently took to his social media handle to share his views on the song ‘Vida Karo’ sung by Arijit Singh and Jonita Gandhi and is composed by A.R. Rahman. He called the song poetic and also mentioned how the song took him to the bitter sweet melancholy of Hemant Kumar’s music. While sharing the song on his Story section, he wrote, “Never has been shot dead sounded as poetic as when ‘Mainu Vida Karo’ plays.
What a song @arrahman @kamil_irshad_official @arijitsingh @jonitamusic !
Took me to the bitter sweet melancholy of some of Hemant Kumar ji’s music and I only say that because it is the highest compliment I can pay.”

Story of ‘Vida Karo’
The song, sung by Arijit Singh and Jonita Gandhi, in reference comes at the place where they have been shot down and they seek a poetic departure from this world. The chorus of this heartbreaking track reads, “Mainu Vida Karo, Mainu Vida Karo Ji, Maine Jaana Hai Us Paar, Tum Sabhi Saaf Sahi, Hoon Matt Maila Main, Tum Sabhi Paak Magar, Paap Ka Dariya Main,Mainu Vida Karo…” This song has been inspired by a poem by the same name written by the late poet Shiv Kumar Batalvi. Said or unsaid, Imtiaz Ali seems to be highly inspired by the works of Shiv Kumar Batalvi, and as much as his poems were soul-stirring, Ali’s songs are too highly healing.
