Actor Arun Vijay has completed filming for his upcoming movie Vanangaan, directed by Bala. Moving forward, he has officially signed on for his 36th project with director Kris Thirukumaran, titled Retta Thala. The film’s title and the first look poster were recently unveiled by the makers. Interestingly, Arun disclosed that the title Retta Thala was suggested to them by director AR Murugadoss.

Reportedly, AR Murugadoss had acquired the rights to the movie title Retta Thala with plans to use it for a film starring Ajith. However, the project never materialised and was eventually shelved. Kris Thirukumaran, director of Arun Vijay’s film, then untitled, asked AR Murugadoss if he could give the title to him and the director readily agreed. Now, with Murugadoss giving away the title, both Kris Thirukumaran and Arun Vijay expressed gratitude as they could now utilise it for their project.

Retta Thala is slated to be an action-packed thriller, promising a cinematic spectacle on a grand scale. Arun Vijay is set to showcase his versatility through five distinct looks, undergoing a significant physical transformation for the role. Director Kris Thirukumaran revealed that the film will see Arun Vijay portraying dual roles, adding further depth to the narrative.

The first look launch event of the film was held in Chennai. Speaking on the occasion, Arun Vijay said, “After Thadam, stepping into dual roles again is exciting.. When I first heard the title Retta Thala, it immediately grabbed my attention. Thala, meaning head, is a very powerful word and carries weight. The director has carefully crafted both characters in the film, ensuring they resonate with the audience. I believe ‘Retta Thala’ will be a source of pride for all involved.”

The cast of Retta Thala includes leading actors Tanya Ravichandran and Siddhi Idnani, with Kannada actor Yogesh making his debut in the film. With its ambitious scope and promising ensemble, the film is anticipated to chart a new trajectory for Arun Vijay’s career.
