New Horror Film From Killer’s Perspective Gets Near-Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score

The new slasher click In a Violent Nature is getting some praise from critics with its early reviews. Set to hit theaters on May 31, the horror film currently holds a high score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.

From filmmaker Chris Nash, In a Violent Nature has a somewhat traditional slasher movie concept featuring a mute killer targeting teenagers in the wilderness. One big change, however, is that the film is largely told from the point of view of the killer, rather than the victims. It’s a spin that has intrigued the critics with most of them at Rotten Tomatoes giving In a Violent Nature high praise, resulting in a near-perfect score at the review aggregator website.

A new horror film with a nearly perfect Rotten Tomatoes score has earned an endorsement from genre legend Stephen King.

“In a Violent Nature is clearly one of 2024’s best horror movies,” writes Sunshine State Cineplex critic Alan French. Kelly McClure of Salon.com said of the film, “The grossest, most elaborate kill-scenes I’ve ever seen in my life all fit seamlessly, where in other films a similar hodgepodge could fall flat amidst the chaos. This feels classic and completely new all at once.”

Another glowing review from critic Dolores Quintana stated, “In a Violent Nature is the slasher you have been waiting for—enthralling, innovative, with a sense of humor, and possessing an aura of the grave.”

A Vengeful Spirit Is on the Loose in In a Violent Nature

The official synopsis for In a Violent Nature reads, “When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes hellbent on retrieving it. The undead golem hones in on the group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft and proceeds to methodically slaughter them one by one in his mission to get it back – along with anyone in his way.”

In a Violent Nature will be released in theaters on May 31, 2024, courtesy of IFC Films. The unrated movie will be heading to Shudder later in the year for its streaming release. A slew of lobby cards have been released ahead of the film’s theatrical arrival to help promote its release with an old-school horror feel.
