Tamil blockbuster Indian (1996) written and directed by Shankar, produced by Sri Surya Movies, and starring Kamal Haasan in the lead is gearing up for a sequel release titled Indian 2 this year. At this time, producer AM Rathnam has announced that he is presenting the re-release of the first film in both Tamil and Telugu languages.

Also starring Sukanya, Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar, Goundamani, Sendhil, late Crazy Mohan among others, Indian comes with a runtime of 185 minutes. The three time National Award winning movie revolves around an Indian freedom fighter turned vigilante, who takes the latter path fed up with the corruption in the country post Independence.
