On this week’s episode of Things I Will Stick My Hand In for Popcorn, the special-edition popcorn buckets for Marvel Studios’ upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine were just announced, and of course, in typical Deadpool fashion, it is absolutely ridiculous — and the promotional video is even better.
Popcorn buckets continue to get weirder and weirder as films roll out. The last time movie goers were shook by one was for Dune: Part Two when a bucket that was supposed to be modeled after one of the film’s iconic sandworms took on a life of its own on the internet for mysteriously looking a lot like a sex toy. Not only was it just flat out strange, most fans were confused as to how they were supposed to get the popcorn out of the sandworm at all. After the bucket became a viral sensation (and a very naughty joke), even AMC had second thoughts. The company made a comment saying, “We would have never created it knowing it would be celebrated or mocked.” Josh Brolin commented on the bucket in interviews during the Dune: Part Two press tour, adding he’d rather starve than put his hand in the tin to reach for some popcorn… and he was not the only cast memeber to question the bucket!
With the fanfare surrounding the popcorn buckets, it’s no surprise to see Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds jump right on the bandwagon. Reynolds took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to promote the new bucket for the upcoming film… and of course it’s a dirty one.
“Years from now they will look back at 2024 as the year the War of the Popcorn Buckets began,” the actor write in his post, with a photo showcasing the new bucket of Wolverine’s (who is played by Hugh Jackman) head with his mouth WIDE open… yes, we are thinking the same thing you are.
As if the popcorn bucket itself was not enough, a promotional video was posted for it as well, showing popcorn being thrown into Wolverine’s mouth from above. And no, that wasn’t the end. The video ended with butter being drizzled on the bucket in the most… let’s just say… intense way.
Deadpool & Wolverine continues to bring shock value to the internet in any way possible. The film is set to premiere on July 26, however Reynolds has teased a ton of collaborations coming with the release. There is no saying how absolutely ridiculous and funny these promotions and collaborations will be, but if Deadpool is involved, it will be RAUNCHY, and we’ll be here for every single second of it!
