Knives Out star Daniel Craig was spotted filming for the third instalment of Knives Out – which sees him reprising his role as Benoit Blanc
James Bond icon Daniel Craig looked worlds away from his usual self in new pictures on the set of the next instalment of Knives Out.
The 56-year-old actor usually rocks cropped hair for most of his roles and his life. In the first two Knives Out movies, Daniel – who plays the role of detective Benoit Blanc in the film series – looked dapper with short hair and casual fits. But it looks like his character had a little switch-up for the upcoming movie, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.
In new pictures taken on set, the No Time To Die actor looked different with shoulder-length grey hair. He transformed into a true detective in a classic beige trench coat over his light-blue button-up shirt, blue tie and trousers. He was seen walking through a park while hiding from the sun in tortoiseshell sunglasses.
Daniel, who is reprising his role as Benoit, was filming scenes with Mila Kunis – who was dressed as a local sheriff – and Josh O’Connor. In one picture, James Bond actor Daniel smirked as hair stylists and the makeup team surrounded him to touch him up in between filming scenes.
The director, Rian Johnson, revealed on social media on Monday that they just started filming for the third instalment. He said: “Aaaaand we’re off! Today is day 1 of shooting on the next Benoit Blanc mystery Wake Up Dead Man – see you on the other side,” along with a black-and-white picture of Daniel rocking a three-piece suit.
Fans were excited seeing him with long hair and rushed to the comment section to share their thoughts. One user said: “The knives out movies are gonna be like mission impossible with tom cruise alternating between long and short hair. I dig it,” while another posted: “Rian who is that man and where is Benny.”
“HIS HAIR WHAT AN ICON,” one shocked user said and another delighted user wrote: “Blanc with long hair? Feels kinda weird but I like it,” with a shifty eyes emoji. The cast of the new movie includes the likes of Challengers star Josh, Civil War’s Cailee Spaeny, Scandal’s Kerry Washington, Fatal Attraction’s Glenn Close, The Avengers actor Jeremy Renner, actor Daryl McCormack and Dune’s Josh Brolin.
The first film saw famed private detective Benoit hired to investigate the death of author Harlan Thrombey (played by Christopher Plummer). He teamed up with nurse Marta Cabrera (Ana de Armas) to uncover the truth in “a twisted case” that was “filled with angry relatives [and] red herrings”.
The character returned in its first sequel, which saw him head to Greece to “peel back the layers of intrigue surrounding” tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) and “an eclectic group of disruptors”. Benoit was last seen pondering the events of that film and it’s now been teased that the “fiery ending” may lead into his “next chapter”.
