Abruptio’s Cast Combines A Top-Tier Horror Pedigree With New & Surprising Choices
Abruptio’s cast is an exciting and surprising assembly of top-tier actors. Horror fans will no doubt be delighted to see Freddy Krueger actor Robert Englund on the cast list as Mr. Salk, and visionary horror director Jordan Peele plays a character named Danny. With Englund retiring as Freddy Krueger and Peele remaining rather selective in taking on projects as an actor, it’s a feat that Marlowe was able to get both actors on board for Abuptio.
Englund and Peele aren’t the only members of the Abruptio cast who have spent plenty of time in the realm of the spooky and gruesome. Les Hackel actor James Marsters enjoyed a long run as Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer which, while not technically horror, often nodded to the genre, and Hana Mae Lee, who plays Chelsea, is known in part for her roles in the horror comedies The Babysitter and The Babysitter: Killer Queen. They’re also joined by House of 1000 Corpses’ Sid Haig, making Abruptio one of the late horror legend’s final performances.
The most surprising addition to the cast, however, is Christopher McDonald as Police Chief Richter. McDonald turned in an iconic performance as Shooter McGavin in Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore, and has even teased the possibility of a Happy Gilmore 2. Abruptio marks a unique entry in McDonald’s long list of credits, as the actor is not known for taking on horror projects. For fans of McDonald’s other work ready to check out Abruptio, the actor’s casting in the project is sure to be a welcome surprise.
