Paramita Munsi’s upcoming film titled Hema Malini stars Rahul Arunodoy Bandyopadhyay. He will be playing Manik Da on screen in this film. The film will also see Roshni Dutta stepping into the role of a new age astrologer. She works as a radio jockey in the USA and acts in English theatre. The film explores the struggle of an independent film maker Manik Mukherjee who is making a film titled Hema Malini. It is when Manik feels a bit confused while making the film that he seeks advice from the astrologer played by Roshni and this chemistry becomes pivotal to the plot of film. Paramita states that there is a resemblance between her own life and the reel life of the character Manik. She mentions, “I know all these characters of this film are inspired by my own life. So, I turned myself into a character in this film. To play the character of Manik I needed someone whose eyes reflect the dreams of change and Rahul has such eyes. I am working with him for the first time and looking forward to it” Though the film is titled Hema Malini, the story of Dharmendra doctor and Manik takes the centre stage in this film. Through different social structures, generations and perspectives, these two characters seek the same values of life in this film which is Hema Malini and yes it’s not the name of a character but a concept, an emotion, an unfinished feeling that encompasses the entirety of the film.
Chiranjeet Chakraborty will be seen playing the role of Dr Dharmendra. Chaiti Ghoshal is also playing an important character in the film. As of now the filmmaker wants to keep the character shrouded in mystery. Debleena Dutt has made a friendly appearance in the role of an upmarket bar singer and dancer.
