Music director Yuvan Shankar Raja, who has scored the music for director Venkat Prabhu’s upcoming film, The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT), featuring actor Vijay in the lead, turned emotional on Saturday as the unit released the second single from the film on the occasion of actor Vijay’s birthday.
The second single, titled Chinna Chinna Kangal, has been sung by Vijay and also features a portion Yuvan’s late sister Bhavatharini’s voice. Yuvan has recorded this portion using AI.
The music director, who is known to be close to his sister, was shattered by her loss. Taking to platform X to share his thoughts on this song, which he said, was special to him, Yuvan wrote, “The second single from #TheGreatestOfAllTime is very special for me. Words cannot do justice to describe this feeling. When we were composing this song in Bangalore, director Venkat Prabhu and I felt this song is for my sister and at that time, I thought to myself once she’s better and out of the hospital we can record her voice. But, an hour later I got the news that she’s no more. I never imagined I would be using her voice like this. I would like to sincerely thank my music team and all the people involved in the process of making this happen. It is a very bittersweet moment for me ❤️”
The song was officially released by actor Vijay on his X timeline, which was also shared by the film’s producer Archana Kalpathi on her timeline, much to the excitement of fans. The track, titled Chinna Chinna Kangal, is a soulful melody number by Yuvan Shankar Raja. With vocals by actor Vijay himself, the song also pays tribute to the late playback singer Bhavatharini. Her voice, beautifully replicated using AI technology, adds a special touch and a sense of belonging to this song.
The song was released with an accompanying lyrical video. with lyrics by Kabilan Vairamuthu, the song presents glimpses of Sneha and Vijay together after a long time. Although Vijay has lent his voice for songs in his films before, it has been a while since fans have been treated to a nice, soulful melodic number like this.
To coincide with the birthday celebrations, the makers of the film had also shared a Birthday Shots video. The Birthday shots video gives fans and film buffs a glimpse of an intense bike chase sequence that the unit filmed in Russia recently. The video shows Vijay in double action. While Vijay with a pair of spectacles is seen riding the bike, the second character, the actor plays is seen riding pillion and firing shots at those pursuing them.
The birthday shots video has further raised expectations from the film, the VFX portions of which were done in Los Angeles. Now, with the release of new images from the film featuring Sneha, fans have noticed the difference in the various looks of Vijay in character, and are now speculating whether the film would feature Vijay in not just a double role as expected before, but in three roles!
