Thalapathy Vijay is currently making headlines for his upcoming film The Greatest of All Time (GOAT). This upcoming Tamil science fiction action film is directed by Venkat Prabhu and is scheduled to be released worldwide on September 5, in standard and IMAX formats. As per the latest reports, the film has been completed, and currently, the post-production work is going on in full swing.

Apart from this, actor Vijay, who holds the responsibility of his political party Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam party leader, is soon to join the people’s work full-time, targeting the 2026 elections. Due to this, the actor has decided to quit cinema completely. Now, there is an expectation among the fans as to what would be his last film.

According to reports, Thalapathy Vijay is said to be all set to act in his next film Thalapathy 69. This upcoming picture is reported to be directed by H Vinoth, who works predominantly in Tamil cinema. He made his directorial debut with Sathuranga Vettai in 2014. Later he went on to direct critically acclaimed films like Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru (2017) along with Nerkonda Paarvai (2019), Valimai (2022), and Thunivu (2023), his trio of films starring Ajith Kumar.

Meanwhile, in a recent media interaction, director H Vinoth shared, “If Vijay gets a chance to direct a film, it will be a political film. Latest reports suggest that director Mari Selvaraj is likely to direct Vijay’s film Thalapathy 70. However, no concrete information about this has been released so far.

Director and screenwriter Mari Selvaraj works in the Tamil film industry. He worked as an assistant director to Ram. He made his directorial debut with Pariyerum Perumal (2018), which opened to highly positive reviews and received many awards and accolades. Afterwards, he paired up with Dhanush for Karnan (2021). Currently, he is working on the Tamil sports drama film Bison, starring Dhruv Vikram and Anupama Parameswaran in the lead roles.
