EXCLUSIVE: Filming is due to get underway in Spain on September 4 on Samuel L. Jackson and Joel Kinnaman action film The Beast.

The film’s title refers to a presidential limousine nicknamed ‘The Beast’ by the Secret Service. In the movie, when a militia of unidentified hostiles coordinates a coup against the U.S., the President (Jackson) uncovers the extent of The Beast’s highly classified offensive capabilities.

Guy Burnet (Oppenheimer) is joining the cast as the main adversary to Jackson’s President. Filming is due to take place in the Canary Islands and Madrid.

James Madigan (The Meg second unit director) is directing off a script by Umair Aleems (Kate).

Keith Kjarval (upcoming Tin Soldier) is producing through his Unified Pictures banner alongside Wayne Marc Godfrey (Wind River) and Nicki Cortese (Ricky Stanicky) for Bright White Light who are also financing the film. Fifth Season (Ambulance), John Logan Pierson (It Ends with Us) and Peter Berg (Lone Survivor) are also producing. WME Independent is handling sales.

Alexis Garcia, Chase Vergari, Ibrahim Mohammed, Chris Bremble, Dru Davis, and Christian Juptner are executive-producing alongside Matthew Cohen, Andrew Kottlier and Jeremie Guiaraud for MEP Capital; Molly C. Quinn, Matthew M. Welty and Elan Gale for QWGmire; Gianni Benvenuto, Dominic Benvenuto and Paul Currie for Marksx Media; and Herbert L. Kloiber and James Copp for Night Train Media. Aleems is also an EP; as is Ben Ruffman for Unified Pictures. Orca 3 and Nostromo’s Adrian Guerra are co-producing.

Burnet is best known for Amazon series The Feed and Starz’s Counterpart, as well as movies including Oppenheimer — in which he played controversial academic George Eltenton — and Pitch Perfect 3.

“Guy Burnet is a rare gem of an actor who has gone toe-to-toe with some of the finest actors of our generation, and it is only fitting that he serves as the worth adversary to Samuel L. Jackson in this elevated thrill ride of a film,” said producer Keith Kjarval.

Burnet is represented by The Way, Lasher Group, and attorney Erik Hyman of Paul Hastings.
