Hombale Films producer Vijay Kiragandur officially revealed exciting updates about two of the studio’s highly anticipated projects, Kantara 2 and KGF: Chapter 3. Following their respective National Award victories, Kiragandur provided key information during a media interaction in New Delhi.

He confirmed that Kantara: Chapter 1, which is both directed and starred by Rishab Shetty, is making good progress. Kiragandur said, “We’ve completed about 30 per cent of the filming, and the next schedule is starting in September. Fans can expect the movie to hit theatres by August 2025.” The prequel, currently being filmed in Kundapura, will explore the story that captivated audiences worldwide in greater depth.
In the meantime, Kiragandur teased fans about the eagerly awaited sequel for KGF. While production has not started yet, he indicated that updates can be expected within the next four to five months.
Vijay Kiragandur expressed great pride after the double victory at the National Film Awards, where both Kantara and KGF Chapter 2 received multiple accolades. Reflecting on this success, he said, “These awards represent the hard work and dedication of our team. It’s not just about the commercial success; Kantara resonated deeply with audiences because of its depiction of human and nature conflicts intertwined with divine elements.”
He also highlighted that the tremendous box office success of KGF Chapter 2, which surpassed Rs 1200 crore, along with its remarkable action choreography, significantly contributed to raising the profile of Kannada cinema on a national scale.
Kantara earned Rishab Shetty the Best Actor award and was honored as the Best Popular Film for delivering wholesome entertainment at the 70th National Film Awards.
Meanwhile, Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2, directed by Prashanth Neel, received the National Award for Best Action Direction and Best Kannada Film.
