She spoke candidly and said how one’s caste even determines where they sit on the sets. Her statement has caused an uproar and Kangana Ranaut took to her social media to slam the actor for her statement.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Kangana Ranaut shared a snippet of Konkona Sensharma’s statement. She responded to the statement and wrote, “Sure and that jaati is if your ancestors were Pakistani refugees or pre-independence working in Pakistani brothels, or in the 80s friends with Hajimastan or Dawood and in contemporary times if you do drugs or other anti-national activities or be a part of movie mafia gang and sabotage talented artists careers then you will get all the respect, that’s the only upper caste they know and respect, rest all are outsiders (sic).”
Take a look at Ranaut’s response here.
In an earlier interview, Sensharma spoke about casteism and classism in Bollywood. She said, “The film set, the film industry, is hugely hierarchical, not just along the lines of women but also along the lines of caste and class and of course, gender. It’s hugely problematic, patriarchal, regressive, hierarchical. I mean, even in terms of catering. Who is allowed to sit where? Who is allowed to eat what? Where are the bathrooms? What people get away with?” She also spoke about the findings of the Hema Committee report.
On the work front, Sensharma directed a segment in Lust Stories 2. She was last seen in Killer Soup where she shared the screen with Manoj Bajpayee. Ranaut, on the other hand, has joined politics. The release of her latest film, Emergency, has been postponed yet again.
