The first trailer for Barry Keoghan‘s new England-set drama Bird has arrived.
The upcoming film follows 12-year-old Bailey (Nykiya Adams), who lives in a squat in Kent with her dad Bug (Keoghan) and brother Hunter (Jason Buda).
However, Bug’s negligence leads Bailey to seek “attention and adventure” elsewhere, leading her to cross paths with the mysterious Bird (Franz Rogowski).

The trailer introduces us to Bailey and Bug, who finds a drug toad “that’s going to pay for everything”, something Bailey calls “another one of his crazy schemes that come to nothing”.
Bailey eventually has enough her father and chaotic neighbourhood, leading her to meet and form an unexpected friendship with Bird.
“You’re used to sorting it, aren’t you?” Bird tells her. “Taking care of things yourself.”
Bird, which comes from American Honey director Andrea Arnold, will be released in UK and Irish cinemas on November 8.

The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, debuting with an impressive 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This score has since dipped and now sits at a still-strong 75%.
“Director Andrea Arnold strikes a coming-of-age chord through Nykiya Adams’ moving performance, marrying fantasy and reality to the dizzying end,” the site’s critical consensus reads.
Earlier this year, Keoghan revealed that he turned down a role in Ridley Scott‘s Gladiator 2 due to scheduling conflicts with Bird, saying at the time: “Conflicts, schedule conflicts. I am a massive fan of Gladiator and a massive fan of that cast.
“It’s a shame you can’t do both. But that happens in this game. You can’t do both.”
Bird swoops into cinemas on November 8.
