Iconic films are often iconic because of the scores and songs that enliven them.
Seaglass Theater Company, based in New Bedford and offering creative performances of classical music, theater, and more, is showcasing its love for the silver screen in an upcoming special event at Gallery X.
“Hooray for Hollywood” is STC’s love letter to Tinseltown, celebrating beloved movie music.
From musicals to spy thrillers, there’s sure to be something that strikes a chord with audience members of all ages.

Seaglass Theater Company presents “Hooray for Hollywood” on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 3, at 3 p.m., at Gallery X, 169 William St., New Bedford, at the Seaport Cultural District.

What music will ‘Hooray for Hollywood’ feature?
“Grab some popcorn! From Oscar winners to grand musicals, Seaglass Theater Company sings the songs that make the movies unforgettable,” a press release for the event said. “Experience the joy of classic songs from the James Bond movies, The Wizard of Oz, and Dirty Dancing that will leave you humming along long after the final curtain call — you might just have ‘The Time of Your Life!’”

Who is in the ‘Hooray for Hollywood’ cast?
The concert stars Kristin Lawler, Anthony Pilcher, and Artistic Director Patrice Tiedemann. Music Director Matthew Larson leads the performances.
Lawler has been a mainstay of STC’s 2023 and 2024 seasons, appearing as Hansel in “Hansel & Gretel” and as a soloist in “Sondheim Tribute Revue” and “Stars & Stripes.” A Boston resident, she has performed on the stages of Boston Symphony Hall, and Carnegie Hall. She is a music faculty member at both Stonehill College and Wellesley College.
Pilcher was most recently featured in STC’s Armed Forces Day concert “Stars & Stripes,” as well as “Not Afraid To Dare: Music By Black Composers.” He has performed with Boston University’s Opera Institute, Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, Odyssey Opera, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, and the Bay View Music Festival.
Tiedemann’s performance highlights include appearing as a soloist with the Boston Pops for their holiday concerts; with Boston Lyric Opera at The Water in the East Coast premiere of “The Little Prince”; “Hansel & Gretel” with the Rhode Island Philharmonic; with the Pioneer Valley Symphony as Santuzza in “Cavalleria Rusticana”; and Rosalinda in “Die Fledermaus” with Opera Providence and Cape Cod Opera. As the STC Artistic Director, she produces creatively-staged performances of classic vocal repertoire for the Southern New England area.
Larson is an accomplished recitalist and has played over 700 concerts in the U.S. and Europe. He has served as Assistant Conductor for Boston Lyric Opera, Music Director of University of Connecticut’s Opera Program, Musical Director of Opera Providence, pianist for the Boston Symphony Orchestra Tanglewood Festival Chorus, and more. Larson serves on the faculty of the Boston University Opera Institute, as Music Director for STC, and as Minister of Music at First Congregational Church of Milton.
“‘Hooray for Hollywood’ is a tribute to some of our favorite songs from cinematic history. We’ve loved putting it together — it reminded us of why we fell in love with movies in the first place,” Tiedemann said in the press release.

Tickets range from $25 to $30, and they include complimentary popcorn and nostalgic candy treats.
