Exclusive: Nithya Menen breaks silence on not doing Bollywood movies after Mission Mangal; Wishes to work with Vidhu Vinod Chopra
Nithya Menen is a renowned actress in the South film industry having worked across Tamil and Malayalam movies. She recently bagged a National Award for her 2022 hit film Thiruchitrambalam also starring Dhanush. With a settled career in the South in 2019 she made a Bollywood debut with Akshay Kumar’s film Mission Mangal. In an exclusive Interview with Peeping Moon, Nithya Menen opened up on why she hasn’t featured in any Hindi movie after the sci-fi drama.
Nithya was asked why she did not do any film after Mission Mangal while many south actresses are making ways into Bollywood. The actress mentioned she doesn’t think of language or industry whether it’s South or Bollywood but a good script excites her. She added her decision depends on what she is being offered. She said, “I choose films without thinking about the language or the industry. So if I get a really nice script I get excited and whichever industry it is I feel the same way. So it depends on what’s coming to me.”
Mission Mangal is a sci-fi drama based on the true events of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launching the Mars Orbiter Mission – Mangalyaan. Along with Nithya Menen, the films stars Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, and Sonakshi Sinha.
In the same interview, Nithya revealed that in Bollywood she would like to work with Vidhu Vinod Chopra and emphasized that she is a script-oriented person. Peeping Moon asked her if there is any specific actor she wants to collaborate with whom she never worked before. She replied. “I don’t know if I feel that way, like I need to work with this actor, I have always been script-oriented. So it’s just a good film or good script, good writing, those are the things that grab my attention first.” Further, on being asked if she has any Bollywood favorite or someone with whom she is willing to work, Nithya instantly mentioned the name of 12th Fail director Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
