The thriller series releases on Jan. 10 on Disney+ and Hulu
In the new Goosebumps: The Vanishing trailer, dad and divorcee Anthony (played by David Schwimmer) has one rule for his twins spending a summer in his Gravesend, Brooklyn, home: Stay out of the basement.
The command naturally leads one curious twin Devin, played by Sam McCarthy, to ask the following: “What do you got in the basement?”
What follows is an uptick in supernatural events: worm-like creatures wriggle around in Anthony’s arm, red sludge overflows from a bathroom sink, and a car begins to steer itself. Goosebumps: The Vanishing marks the second installment to the Disney television series and follows twins Devin and Cece, played by Jayden Bartels, as they unravel the mystery of four teens who went missing in 1994. The trailer was announced during a New York Comic Con panel on Sunday.
Friends Alex (Francesca Noel), CJ (Elijah M. Cooper), and Frankie (Galilea La Salvia) also tag along to uncover the unsolved cases. Other casts members include Ana Ortiz as Jen and Stony Blyden as Trey.
Season One of the Rob Letterman-directed series follows five high school teens who attend a Halloween party at an abandoned home. The abandoned home once housed a boy named Harold Biddle, who died in a house fire there in 1993. Despite an English teacher shutting down the party, the teenagers’ lives soon take a turn for the worse as evil monstrosities are unleashed.
The thriller series draws inspiration from R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps novels, including Stay Out of the Basement, The Haunted Car, Monster Blood, The Girl Who Cried Monster, The Ghost Next Door, and Welcome to Camp Nightmare.
