Tom Holland will star in Christopher Nolan’s next film, alongside Matt Damon, in a top-secret project.

Nolan wrote the script and is directing the film, which Universal Pictures will distribute. The studio has set July 17, 2026, as the release date.

Plot details remain under wraps, though sources say the film is not set in the present day. However, it remains unclear whether the setting is in the future or the past.

Nolan is producing alongside his wife and producing partner, Emma Thomas, under their production company Syncopy.

The feature reunites Nolan with the studio behind Oppenheimer, the drama that earned him his first Oscars. He won best director and took home a best picture award as a producer on the film, which grossed $976 million worldwide.

Oppenheimer was the first time Nolan worked with Universal, a collaboration that began after his public split with Warner Bros. in late 2020. While Oppenheimer was picked up by Universal through an open auction, this new project went directly to the studio, according to sources.

This will be Holland’s first time working with the acclaimed director. However, it will not be Damon’s first collaboration with Nolan, as he previously worked with him on Interstellar and Oppenheimer.

The next year is expected to be busy for Holland, as sources say he will spend most of his time on two Marvel projects, Spider-Man 4 and Avengers: Doomsday. Spider-Man 4 was delayed, resulting in Holland’s co-star Zendaya shooting Dune 3 in early 2026 instead of next year.

Holland, who last appeared in Apple TV’s 2023 miniseries The Crowded Room, is represented by WME and Sloane Offer.
