Recently, singer-composer duo Sachin-Jigar along with lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya gave us four original tracks, for the horror-comedy franchise Stree2.
Singer Divya Kumar who was a part of two songs in the film, ‘Aaj Ki Raat‘ also sung by Madhubanti Bagchi and ‘Aayi Nai’ co sung by Pawan Singh and Simran Choudhary, is rather happy with the generous appreciation showered on the album.
Talking about it Divya says, “It’s a rarity today to have only original songs in a film album and Sachin-Jigar’s Stree has that. All the songs are amazing, and I feel fortunate to have been associated with this album. I went to record with Pawan in his studio in Lucknow and it was a superb experience. Pawan Bhai was extremely cooperative and passionate about singing the song. I was part of the song Aayi Nai from the very beginning, as in, from the scratch of the song. Pawan Bhai was the last-minute addition to make it sound more earthy and quirky. And now it sounds just like what we had expected! The other one, Aaj Ki Raat was a last-minute addition for me! We were all in Sachin-Jigar’s studio working on some other projects and this song was in its last touches and production. The composer duo felt that I should also be a small part of this song, so that’s how this one came about.”
Divya also sang Sajna Ve Sajna, a duet with Sunidhi Chauhan in Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. When asked about not being in the film music scene for long Divya says, “I think sometimes taking a step back is only to get a jumpstart again to some new adventures. I was working on my independent songs, which I’m still working on, to put it out to the world soon. I have been getting a lot of good songs on OTT, like Panchayat Season 2, Gullak 4, Kota Factory and many more, so, I was quietly there. After Stree 2 I am sure a lot of the newer musicians and composers and writers will believe in making original songs and through that I can get more opportunities to meet and work with these amazing new talented musicians and explore some more genres of music.”
