In a recent interview with Filmfare, Kamal Haasan expressed how special the film Vikram is to him. He recalled that it was about 37-38 years ago when he first narrated a story that was initially met with scepticism. “They chuckled and said, ‘What are you aiming for? Award only and no commercial aspirations at all,’” he recalled. This early version of the story was dismissed, with concerns that the concept of a dual role wouldn’t resonate with audiences.

Despite the initial rejection, Haasan noted that a writer named Mr. Sujatha had a fondness for the idea. “He liked the idea,” Kamal remarked, revealing how he had almost forgotten about it. However, when discussing the original Vikram concept with director Lokesh Kanagaraj, everything changed. “I told Lokesh about the original Vikram idea because he wanted the title, Vikram. He said that’s fantastic, why don’t we do this, and that is Vikram of today.”
For Kamal Haasan, the film Vikram represents more than just a project; it embodies a long and emotional journey. He concluded, “So for me, it is very special.”
