Upcoming Bollywood Movies Releasing in September 2024: Emergency & more

Movie-goers and binge-watchers, gear up for another month of star-studded films and impactful stories. Between the big screen and OTT releases, the calendar has films like Kareena Kapoor Khan’s The Buckingham Murders. After a worldwide premiere at international film festivals, it’s finally hitting Indian screens this month. Meanwhile, the political drama Emergency is one of the most anticipated theatrical releases. On OTT, Sector 36 starring Vikrant Massey, Ipshita Chkraborthy and more is set to enthral viewers. 
Here are all the upcoming Bollywood movies releasing in cinemas and on OTT. 
Emergency, directed and co-produced by Kangana Ranaut is a political drama based on true events. The film chronicles the state of Emergency declared between 1975 and 1977 in India while Indira Gandhi served as Prime Minister. Shreyas Talpade, Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, and the late Satish Kaushik play pivotal roles. 

Release date: September 6 

Where to watch: In theatres 
Hansal Mehta’s The Buckingham Murders is perhaps one of the most exciting releases of the month. The film will see Kareena Kapoor Khan don her detective hat as a grieving cop who after losing her child is tasked with investigating the case of a missing child. The film was released at the BFI London Film Festival and at MAMI before its theatrical run.

The calendar also has a crime thriller with Sector 36. Directed by Aditya Nimbalkar, the film starring Vikrant Massey, Deepak Dobrial and more is inspired by true events. It follows the mysterious disappearances of children from a slum in Sector 36.

Espionage thriller Berlin which was recently screened at the International Film Festival of Melbourne arrives on OTT this month. The film directed by Atul Sabharwal features Aparshakti Khurana, Rahul Bose, Ishwak Singh and more in key roles. It promises to keep viewers hooked from start to end.

The action-thriller film Yudhra introduces a fresh pairing – Siddhant Chaturvedi and Malavikma Mohanan. Siddhant plays a man with anger issues who embarks on a mission. He’s up against Raghav Juyal who is fresh off his Kill success. Between high-octane sequences, romance and drama, the film promises to be a thrilling ride.

Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam

Amidst all the action and thriller films, the month closes with a romantic comedy. Starring Dhvani Bhanushali, Aashim Gulati, Supriya Pilgaonkar and more, the film revolves around a runaway bride. What ensues is a hilariously chaotic wedding.
