Maddock Films Private Limited, spearheaded by the visionary Dinesh Vijan, has solidified its position as a dominant player in Bollywood, delivering both critically acclaimed movies and impressive financial results. For the financial year ending March 31, 2023, the production house reported revenue of Rs. 228 crore, marking a stellar performance underpinned by a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 35% over the last five years. This remarkable growth showcases Maddock’s ability to consistently deliver films that resonate with audiences and generate substantial returns.

Maddock Films reported an industry-leading EBITDA margin of 50% and a PAT (Profit After Tax) margin of 35%, highlighting the company’s operational efficiency and profitability. Such margins are rare in an industry characterized by unpredictable box office performances and fluctuating audience preferences.

The company’s financial stability received a significant boost in 2022 when Mumbai-based Nepean Capital acquired a 50% stake in Maddock Films. This infusion of capital not only fortified Maddock’s financial base but also enabled the production house to scale up operations, invest in high-budget films, and expand its ambitious cinematic universe.

In early 2025, Maddock Films thrilled fans with the announcement of eight films in their highly successful horror-comedy universe. These include the much-anticipated Stree 3, Bhediya 2, and new entries like Shakti Shalini and Chamunda. The multiverse will culminate in an epic showdown with Doosara Mahayudh, scheduled for October 18, 2028.

This bold move builds on the unparalleled success of Stree 2, which shattered box office records in 2024. Made on a budget of Rs. 105 crore, the film grossed a staggering Rs. 874.58 crore worldwide. Its box office share in India alone was over triple its production cost, and combined with revenues from digital, TV, and music rights, the movie delivered profits exceeding Rs. 350 crore. With an ROI of over 300%, Stree 2 stands as a historic blockbuster, redefining Bollywood’s commercial benchmarks.

Another surprise hit from the Maddock stable was Munjya, a modestly budgeted horror-comedy made at Rs. 30 crore. It grossed Rs. 132.13 crore domestically, proving that even films with minimal star power can strike gold with the right mix of storytelling and execution. With non-theatrical revenues factored in, the film generated an impressive profit of Rs. 68 crore, underscoring Maddock’s knack for balancing creativity with commercial success.

While Maddock’s horror-comedy universe stole the limelight, the production house also achieved success in other genres. The romantic comedy Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, was another feather in Maddock’s cap. Despite a budget of Rs. 75 crore, its worldwide box office gross of Rs. 133.64 crore and robust earnings from non-theatrical sources ensured a profit of Rs. 20 crore.

Maddock Films’ stellar performance in 2024 was not just limited to box office success but also translated into exceptional profitability. With blockbusters like Stree 2 and Munjya, and the profitable romantic comedy Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, the production house generated a combined profit of approximately Rs. 450 crore for the year.

Taran Adarsh summed it up best: “When we talk of the prime banners of Bollywood, we usually talk of Yash Raj Films, Dharma Productions, Excel Entertainment, etc. But 2024 belonged to Maddock. They got it all right and had a 100% track record.”

Maddock Films’ strategic focus on creating cinematic universes has positioned it as a pioneer in Indian filmmaking. The horror-comedy genre, which blends humor with supernatural elements, has proven to be a goldmine, and the upcoming slate of films promises to build on this momentum. With Stree 3 slated for release on August 13, 2027, and other major projects like Bhediya 2 and Doosara Mahayudh lined up, Maddock is set to further cement its dominance.
