Hollywood star Michael B Jordan and acclaimed filmmaker Ryan Coogler have reunited for upcoming horror thriller, Sinners – and fans already can’t get enough.

The gory vampire flick is set in 1930s Jim Crow-era South with a heavily under-the-wraps plot that only teases the bare minimum – including the Black Panther star’s dual role in the original film, which was shot in New Orleans.

The official synopsis reads: ‘Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers (Jordan) return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.’

Taking to Instagram to share the official movie poster, the 37-year-old actor wrote: ‘Dance with the devil…and he’ll follow you home.’

The three-minute trailer opens up with an eerie narration as a suited-up Michael B Jordan arrives in town playing twins, with a gun in hand.

‘There are legends of people with the gift of making music so true, it can conjure spirits from the past and the future.

‘This gift can bring fame and fortune. But it also can pierce the veil between life and death,’ Annie narrates.

Soon a supernatural threat takes over the town – as the survivors grow ever more desperate to escape the bloodthirsty clutches of the vampires (including one played by Hailee Steinfeld).

The trailer for the gothic horror features Michael’s character letting loose with his gun, plenty of sultry vampiric dance sequences and spine-tingling stakes as Hailee Steinfeld’s red-mouthed vampire declares: ‘We gon’ kill every last one of you.’

The impressive cast list also includes Da 5 Bloods star Delroy Lindo, Back to Black’s Jack O’Connell, Dickinson actor Hailee and Babylon’s breakout star Li Jun Li.

Already expecting a high-calibre, heart-pounding production, fans have already dubbed the movie one of the most anticipated of 2025 with a spring release date.

Especially given director Ryan’s track record with films like Creed and the Black Panther franchise already under his belt. In total, he has landed two Academy Award nominations.

‘Basically all I’ve ever wanted from a feature film,’ X user @conorlawler wrote.

‘Greatest movie ever made incoming,’ @columned praised.

‘Ryan Coogler you have done it again,’ @astrorambeau said.

‘Inject everything about this into my f**king veins holy s**t,’ @willmovies shared.

‘Sinners is easily one of my most anticipated of the year,’ @fn_nerds wrote.

‘Vampire horror fueled by music, dance, and sex? I have never felt a more powerful need! Inject every bit of this into my veins!’ @sebguts10 declared.

‘Just continues to build my hype. Absolutely going crazy wanting this film. Love the tone, style, everything. Most anticipated for a reason,’ @tankusmaximus84 agreed.

‘This Sinners trailer is incredible I’m literally speechless!! Ryan Coogler proves again he is one of the greatest A list directors and can stand next to Jordan Peel & Christopher Nolan. Michael B. Jordan is breathing fire in every scene, and the horror genre is better for it!’ @bellalovenote added.

In a new interview with Hollywood Reporter, Ryan opened up about his vision for the movie.

‘The film is very genre fluid. It switches in and out of a lot of different genres. Yes vampires are an element, but it’s not the only supernatural element in the movie. The film is about more than just that,’ he told the publication.

He continued: ‘I’m blessed to have found this medium that I can work out deep philosophical and existential questions that I may be struggling with while contributing to an art form that means so much to my family.

‘Each film brings me closer to understanding myself and the world around me.’

Meanwhile, in 2024, Michael opened up about how his career skyrocketed to the next level after starring in Marvel’s Black Panther.

‘It’s insane. Kind of known before. I guess now, it’s just I can’t go anywhere. Malls are off limits,’ he told Revolt.

‘It’s incredible, especially with the kids and seeing the next generation and how excited they’ve been after seeing the movie and their reaction to me walking around has been.’

His involvement in the Creed franchise as the lead star has also gone from strength to strength.

When the third movie came out in 2023 it secured the highest-grossing opening for a sports movie in history.

Sinners will come out in cinemas on April 18, 2025.
