The Super Bowl will take place on February 9, when the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles, and that means studios will want to share upcoming blockbuster trailers.

Major studios including Paramount, Universal, and Disney are expected to be putting forward trailers of their releases this year to get shown during the coveted ad break. Some reports suggest that slots for advertisements can cost upwards of US$7million for only 30 seconds.

According to Variety, Paramout is set to air trailers for Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoningbilled as Tom Cruise’s last appearance as the risk-taking spy. They are also set to show trailers for Smurfs and thriller Novocaine. Meanwhile, Disney is spectated to focus on its summer releases, including the live-action Lilo and Stitch, Thunderbolts, Pixar’s Elio, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which Marvel boss Kevin Feige said used video game Fortnite for inspiration.

Universal is expected to show a trailer for Jurassic World Rebirth, starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali. Trailers for M3gan 2.0 and the How To Train Your Dragon live-action reboot.

However, not every studio or streaming giant is thought to show a movie trailer during the Super Bowl advertisement break. Both Netflix and Amazon are not expected to air a trailer, nor are studios Warner Bros or Lionsgate. Sony has not made its stance clear.

In September, the NFL and Apple Music confirmed Kendrick Lamar would be headlining the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in New Orleans. Last week the rapper said SZA would be joining him for the performance.

In a new ad to promote the performance for Apple Music, Kendrick is seen standing in a feel as people march around in the distance. Kendrick says while speaking on the phone: “You know this field a lot bigger than people think so that’s a must. Exactly. Nah, I been thinking about a guest performer.”

SZA then sneaks up behind him to douse him in blue Gatorade, a staple celebration seen during sporting events.
