Born on August 14, 1961, in Mumbai to popular actress Nutan and Lieutenant Commander Rajnish Bahl, we are talking about Mohnish Bahl. He made his debut in 1983 with the film Bekarar. However, his next six films failed. However, his breakthrough came in 1989 when his film Maine Pyar Kiya was released and became a huge hit. Did you know that Mohnish was on the verge of quitting?
Mohnish Bahl told The Times of India in 2021 that he recalled how Salman Khan suggested his name to the Barjatya family for the 1989 movie. He said, “By the time I got Maine Pyar Kiya, not only had I started my career, but also ended it. I thought I was finished after a few flops and was planning to become a pilot. I was working on getting my commercial flying license as I wanted to get a job in something I like doing, in the aviation sector.”
He further added, “Salman Khan and I bumped into each other one day and we became friends. He was also trying to get into the business of filmmaking, so when he got this break in Maine Pyar Kiya, he recommended my name for the villain’s role.”
However, even after a hit film, Mohnish stopped getting work. In an interview with Hindustan Times, the actor opened up about his situation and said that after a while, good works stopped coming to him.
He opened up and said that after getting a bunch of hit films, he started doing TV serials. And, when, an actor starts doing serials, directors hesitate to approach actors for movies.
Mohnish was last seen in the 2019 historical drama Panipat. Coming to his personal life, Mohnish tied the knot with actress Ekta Sohini. The couple was blessed with two daughters named Pranutan Bahl and Krishaa Bahl.
