“Now tell me folks – are you a friend of Frendo?” 🤡 RLJE Films & Shudder have revealed the first look teaser trailer for Clown in a Cornfield, a kooky new horror film arriving in theaters in May at the start of the summer movie season. A brand new horror from the director of the horror comedy cult classic Tucker and Dale vs Evil! Yay – finally! This is premiering at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival in March before it plays in theaters this May and eventually streaming on Shudder later in the year. Welcome to Kettle Springs! A fading midwestern town in which Frendo the Clown, a symbol of bygone success, reemerges as a terrifying scourge. Quinn and her father have just moved to the quiet town of Kettle Springs hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers a fractured community that has fallen on hard times – until a sinister, grinning figure emerges from the cornfields to cleanse the town of its burdens. Based on the horror book of the same name. Starring Katie Douglas, Carson MacCormac, Aaron Abrams, Will Sasso, and Kevin Durand. This is a brutal teaser! Eli Craig’s new horror film Clown in a Cornfield follows Quinn and her father, who have just moved to the quiet town of Kettle Springs hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers a fractured community that has fallen on hard times after the treasured Baypen Corn Syrup Factory burned down. As the locals bicker amongst themselves & tensions boil over, a sinister, grinning figure emerges from the cornfields to cleanse the town of its burdens, one bloody victim at a time. Welcome to Kettle Springs. The real fun starts when Frendo the clown comes out to play. Clown in a Cornfield is directed by American genre writer / filmmaker Eli Craig, director of the films Tucker and Dale vs Evil and Little Evil previously, plus a few shorts and other genre projects. The screenplay is written by Carter Blanchard and Eli Craig. Adapted from the novel of the same name written by Adam Cesare. Produced by Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, John Fischer.
