Rajkummar Rao is a hot favourite to play a middle-class man. Be it Stree 2, Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, or Bareily Ki Barfi, the actor has created a niche for himself in the role of a middle-class man. And now once again he is coming up in a similar role with Bhool Chuk Maaf with young sensation Wamiqa Gabbi as the female lead. However, what is different this time is that Bhool Chuk Maaf is a time loop movie in which the same situation and the day keep on repeating.
It is as if the actors in the movie are stuck on the same day and the story gets repeated and cannot get forward despite the fact the hero realizes that something wrong is happening. While it is an entirely new concept for Bollywood, such types of movies have been produced in Hollywood. Fans can watch a few such films to understand this genre.
12 Dates of Christmas (2011)
This television film premiered on December 11 2011 and is about Kate who is a very insensitive woman. She is quite insensitive towards the feelings of others. The story is also about Miles who is a widower and is yearning for a new romantic partner. Kate and Miles come face to face on a blind date but Kate just blows it away with her insensitiveness. That is when she gets stuck in a time loop where nature gives her 12 chances so that she can mature.
Happy Death Day (2017)
An interesting story in which a college student gets murdered on her birthday, the 18th. She finds her awake the next morning alive on the 18th but every day keeps on getting weaker though alive. Nature gives her a chance to find out her murderer so that she can come out of this time loop’ trap.
See You Yesterday (2019)
This is a story about an ambitious girl who is a science prodigy using her intelligence and prowess to create a time machine. She does this to save her brother who has been killed during a police encounter. While doing so she has to alter many events from the past eventually which will lead to perilous consequences during her time travel.
Palm Springs (2020)
Nyles is a carefree person whereas Sarah is a reluctant maid of honour. They meet each other by chance at a wedding in Palm Springs. From there things start getting complicated as the next morning both of them are stuck inside the venue from where they cannot escape.
Vandits (2022)
A few incompetent people with criminal minds try to rob something from a bingo hall and eventually get trapped inside the hall in a time loop. They keep on staging the heist repeatedly but every time, they fail differently.
Rajkummar Rao’s Bhool Chuk Maaf is based on the same theme of time loop and it will be interesting to see how the suspense and the comedy unfolds on the screen.
