HOLLAND, MI— The first trailer for a nail-biting thriller filmed in the tulip-filled fields of Holland has finally been released.
Directed by Mimi Cave, “Holland” centers on teacher and homemaker Nancy Venergroot, played by Nicole Kidman. Her picture-perfect life with her community pillar husband and son tumbles into a twisted tale in the charming Michigan town. She and her friendly colleague become suspicious of a secret, only to discover nothing in their lives is what it seems.
The film will premiere at the March 7-15 SXSW (South by Southwest) Film & TV Festival in Austin, Texas, before streaming on Prime Video on March 27.
While most of the movie was filmed in Tennessee, some scenes were filmed in 2023 in and around the authentic Dutch windmill in Holland, with over 200 cast and crew members on location.

Matt Helmus, general manager at Windmill Island Gardens, told MLive Tuesday the tulips in the movie are done with CGI (computer-generated imagery) because they weren’t in bloom at the time of filming.
“From our perspective, it’s amazing how much time elapsed from the time they were here (nearly 2 years ago now) to the time when the movie is scheduled to come out,” Helmus said. ”They only shot for 2 days at Windmill Island Gardens. It was amazing to see the operation of having a few hundred people on site for just 2 days. The planning and effort behind it was a well-oiled machine. Our staff is interested to see how the windmill fits into the story.”
Kidman and costar Gael García Bernal were sighted at Windmill Island Gardens during filming. Bernal is known for voicing Hector in Disney’s 2017 “Coco” and appeared in “Bad Education” and “The Motorcycle Diaries.”
Other celebrities in “Holland” include 2005 “Pride and Prejudice” star Matthew Macfadyen and Rachel Sennott.
