Our TV movie pick for tonight (Thursday, 27 February) is American Made, the 2017 action crime comedy movie loosely based on real events starring Tom Cruise.

In the film, he plays an American pilot in the ’70s and ’80s who gets recruited to fly clandestine reconnaissance missions for the CIA.

However, in the process of carrying out this work, he ends up becoming a drug smuggler for the Medellín Cartel in Colombia.

Featuring Cruise at his most charismatic, stylish direction from Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow) and a handful of very memorable scenes, American Made was a hit with both audiences and critics upon release – holding an 85% Rotten Tomatoes score.

As well as Cruise, the movie’s cast also includes such recognisable faces as Caleb Landry Jones, Domhnall Gleeson, Jayma Mays, Jesse Plemons, Lola Kirke and Sarah Wright.
