The world of Bollywood is a dream destination for many, with its glitz, glamour and fame. But not everyone is meant to stay for long, overcoming the challenges and pressures of the industry. One such actress, who had a promising start with her debut film produced by Salman Khan’s production house, eventually left the spotlight for motherhood. With 4 films under her belt, she decided it was time to prioritise love and family. And her life partner? A successful India cricketer. Meet Athiya Shetty, daughter of veteran actor Suniel Shetty, who found happiness away from the limelight.

The former actress was born on November 5, 1992, to Suniel Shetty and his wife, Mana Shetty. Following in her father’s footsteps, Athiya pursued a career in acting, honing her skills at the prestigious New York Film Academy. Before her Bollywood debut, she completed her schooling at the esteemed Cathedral and John Connon School and later attended the American School of Bombay.

Making her first step in Bollywood, Athiya Shetty made her acting debut with the 2015 film Hero, opposite Sooraj Pancholi. Produced under the banner of Salman Khan Films, Hero was directed by Nikkhil Advani. Despite the promising cast and production, the film failed to resonate with the audience and underperformed at the box office.

After her debut film’s underwhelming response, Athiya Shetty attempted a comeback with Anees Bazmee’s Mubarakan. Although the film received positive reviews, it failed to make a significant impact at the box office. Athiya then appeared in Nawabzaade, making a notable special appearance, and later starred alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Motichoor Chaknachoor in 2019.

Now, Athiya has bid adieu to her acting career, embracing the joys of motherhood. Her father, Suniel Shetty, confirmed that Athiya has no plans to return to acting. While speaking to Zoom, the actor said, “She said, ‘Baba, I don’t want to,’ and she just left. And that’s what I salute her for saying, ‘I’m not interested. I don’t want to do films.’ After Motichoor Chaknachoor, a lot came her way. ‘But I don’t want to. I’m comfortable, you know?”

Athiya Shetty tied the knot with star India wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul in 2023, after being in a relationship for several years. The power couple recently welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Evaarah. It is now yet to be seen if Athiya will pursue any other career option amid her motherhood duties.
