Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is under fire after reportedly impeding production issues for his next big film.
Johnson is starring in Amazon MGM Studios’ Christmas movie called “Red One”.
The film was originally slated to release during the 2023 holiday season but has been pushed back to November of 2024.
The delay seemed to be due to last year’s SAG-AFTRA strike but now there’s more to the story.
Insiders on the “Red One” set have disclosed to The Wrap that Johnson was chronically late and unprofessional during filming.
They said he would show up late to set, use personal urine bottles to avoid public bathrooms and flake for hours at a time to complete his daily three-hour workout routine.
The start of production had been postponed twice because of Johnson’s commitments to his “Young Rock” series on NBC, the relaunch of his professional football league the XFL and his “Black Adam” press run.
Insiders said the movie crew was forced to shoot around him on days he was late or didn’t even show up.
“Dwayne truly doesn’t give a f—,” one insider told The Wrap.
Another insider said his daily three-hour workout routine and refusal to work a full shooting day was a “control thing”.
Amazon saw potential in launching a “Red One” franchise about the film depicting a villain who kidnaps Santa Claus from the North Pole prompting a bounty hunter to find Santa and save Christmas.
Chris Evans and J.K. Simmons are co-starring in the film as its final budget totaled more than $250 million.
A premiere date for the film has yet to be announced.
