The press conference for the highly anticipated film ‘Veteran 2’ was held at I-Park Mall CGV in Yongsan, Seoul, on August 20, featuring a lineup of notable guests including actors Hwang Jung-min, Jung Hae-in, and director Ryu Seung-wan.
Jung Hae-in, who stars in the film as rookie detective Park Sun-woo, shared insights into his demanding role, saying, “The intensity and density were different from that of the action scenes I had done so far.I had to practice a lot, and while reading the script, I realized that if I didn’t have that foundation, I would feel so regretful and frustrated when acting. I also prepared myself in terms of physical strength. It’s another action but having good physical strength is very important”, as quoted by Kbizoom. He continued, “I became exhausted faster after each take and I guess this is the project that I filmed when I was the healthiest. It’s absolutely a ‘lucky Vicky’. I successfully stayed healthy and completed the project perfectly”.
Discussing a specific water sliding scene featured in the trailer, Jung Hae-in remarked, “The scene came out as if it was grinding cartilage but I filmed the scene very safely. So I realized, ‘Oh, it could be done this way’. Being an actor requires a bit of courage. If you act without being scared of anything, the work will turn out well. But if you’re afraid even when it is safe to do so, you may actually get hurt. I’m glad the scene came out amazingly”.
Director Ryu Seung-wan praised Jung Hae-in’s dedication, humorously giving him a score of 9.99 for his action performance. “A 0.01 minus because he was too fast. There was a time when he moved so fast that I even asked him to slow down. He even applied a technique that made his partner almost lose their breath. So I asked, ‘Why are you doing that? It’s a movie, just act’. His body is as strong as a rock. I was very shocked when I touched his arm. So I realized that he took care of himself so well. It’s great to know that he was so dedicated to the project and practiced a lot. However, his level of immersion was so intense that I had to minus 0.01”, the director said with a chuckle.
Meanwhile, ‘Veteran 2’ is scheduled to hit theaters on September 13. It follows the story of veteran detective Seo Do-chul, played by Hwang Jung-min, and rookie detective Park Sun-woo, portrayed by Jung Hae-in, as they hunt down a serial killer together.
