After the live-action reimagining of “Lilo & Stitch” premiered and earned $361.3 million globally, the world said goodbye to one of the movie’s actors.

The death of David Hekilli Kenui Bell, 57, was announced on June 15 by his sister, Jolene Kanani Bell on Facebook.

“It is with a heavy heart I share that my sweet, generous, talented, funny, brilliant and handsome little brother David H.K. Bell will spend today in the company of our Heavenly Father,” she said.

In the film, which premiered in the United States on May 23, David Bell played the beloved character, Shave Ice Man, who drops his shave ice every time he makes an appearance, IMDb wrote.

David Bell “loved being an actor” and produced voice overs while also traveling as an ambassador for Kona Brew, Jolene Bell wrote. He also appeared in two episodes of Magnum P.I. as Manu Saluni and one episode of Hawaii Five-0 as Isaac, according to IMDb.

When the opening night for “Lilo & Stitch” was planned in Kapolei, Hawaii, David Bell planned ahead and purchased “the best seats in the house” for his family “just two short weeks ago.”

“That’s one trait we didn’t share, planning ahead,” Jolene Bell said on Facebook. “We talked about and were so energized by the fans dressed in [Lilo & Stitch] gear head to toe, t-shirts, [onesies], hats, masks and the merch galore flying off the shelf as we stood in line for [popcorn].”

In honor of her brother, Jolene Bell said the family went out for shave ice “to ease” the grief.

“Hug your loved ones today” she said. “Our last time together after returning home from the movie was just sitting on my living room couch talking story about life, having a seltzer and doing a little genealogy. Blessed by this and all the big and small moments, I will keep our memories alive.”
