Sony and Nintendo have cast Link and Zelda for their upcoming The Legend of Zelda live-action movie.

Who is in The Legend of Zelda movie cast?

In an X post on Wednesday, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto revealed that The Legend of Zelda has cast Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Zelda.

“This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san,” reads the official Nintendo account. “I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.”

Ainsworth is an English actor best known for voicing Pinocchio in Robert Zemeckis’ live-action remake of Pinocchio. Other notable roles include Miles in the Netflix horror series The Haunting of Bly Manor, William in Disney’s Flora & Ulysses, and Mark Critch in the Son of a Critch series.

Bragason broke out in the role of Rachel Winshaw in the BBC One series Three Girls. The English actor has also appeared as Amy Knightly in The Jetty, Roxy Jackson in Renegade Nell, and Clara Radley in The Radleys.

Wes Ball is attached to direct The Legend of Zelda. Ball is best known for directing all three Maze Runner movies. Ball helmed the most recent Planet of the Apes movie, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

Nintendo and Sony Pictures will co-finance and distribute the Zelda movie. Ball, Miyamoto, Joe Hartwick Jr., and Avi Arad will produce.

The Legend of Zelda debuted as a Nintendo game in 1986. It follows the elf-like warrior Link and Princess Zelda as they fight to save the magical land of Hyrule from the evil warlord Ganon.

Nintendo is attempting to expand its movie reach following the success of 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide.

The Legend of Zelda is scheduled for a theatrical release on May 7, 2027.
