“More adventure than any bear can bear.” Sony Pictures has unveiled their official US trailer for the highly anticipated sequel Paddington in Peru. It opens in the UK next week, but only opening there – it won’t be showing in US theaters until January 2025. Continuing the adorable adventures of the Paddington Bear after the beloved Paddington (2014) & Paddington 2 (2017). In this, Paddington and his adopted family – the Browns – decide to visit his Aunt Lucy in Peru, only to end up lost in the Amazon rainforest (inspired by Herzog’s Fitzcarraldo?) and stuck up in the Andes mountains. This fun British-Peruvian comedy adventure sequel stars Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer, Madeleine Harris, Samuel Joslin, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Carla Tous, and Antonio Banderas, plus Olivia Colman as “The Reverend Mother.” Plus the voices of Ben Whishaw as Paddington Brown and Imelda Staunton as Aunt Lucy, who I hope has a bigger role. This looks like the kind of goofy adventure movie we could all use right now! Hope it’s as good as the other two Paddington movies before. Paddington in Peru brings Paddington’s story to Peru as he returns to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now resides at the Home for Retired Bears. With the Brown Family in tow, a thrilling adventure ensues when a mystery plunges them into an unexpected journey through the Amazon rainforest and up to the mountain peaks of Peru. Paddington in Peru is directed by English filmmaker Dougal Wilson, making his feature directorial debut after many music videos, short films, and commericals previously. The screenplay is written by Mark Burton, Jon Foster, James Lamont; from a story by Mark Burton, Simon Farnaby, Paul King. Based on characters by Michael Bond. Produced by Rosie Alison and David Heyman. Studiocanal will debut Paddington in Peru in UK cinemas first starting on November 8th, 2024 this fall. Sony will then release the sequel in US theaters on January 17th, 2025 early in the New Year. Does that look super fun?
