Scenes for a new children’s fantasy adventure movie will be shot in Lancaster city centre next week.

‘Medieval tents’ will be put up in Dalton Square early next week as crews move in to shoot a new feature film called ‘Robin and the Hood’.

Set-up is due to take place on Monday (September 18) with filming scheduled for Tuesday (September 19).

Nearby residents and businesses have been receiving letters advising them of the filming which is due to take place between around 8am and 8pm on Tuesday, with set-up due for around 9am to 7pm on Monday.

They have been told that parking bays on the north and east side of Dalton Square will be suspended on both days.

There will also be a stop-go traffic management system at the junction of the traffic lights at the south end of Dalton Square, and on the northern corner with Sulyard Street, while unloading of equipment takes place. This system will be in place for brief periods on both days.

The London-based production company, Rath Productions Ltd, have told residents that they will aim to keep disruption to a minimum.

Robin and the Hood will be directed by Phil Hawkins, and has been written by Stuart Benson and Paul Davidson, according to entertainment website IMDb.com.

A Lancaster City Council spokesperson confirmed that filming is due to take place soon in Dalton Square, but said they were unable to disclose any further details at this time.
