On October 14, Tamil actor Suriya announced his next film, marking his 45th project, confirming earlier speculations about a collaboration with actor-director RJ Balaji. This announcement came shortly after Suriya wrapped up shooting for Suriya 44, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The news of Suriya teaming up with RJ Balaji had already been circulating, and the official confirmation has generated significant buzz among fans and industry insiders alike.

RJ Balaji, known for his sharp wit and socially relevant themes in films like Mookuthi Amman and Veetla Vishesham, will bring a fresh perspective to this collaboration. Suriya, who has been choosing diverse and challenging roles in recent years, is expected to bring his versatility to this new project. Suriya’s upcoming film, tentatively titled Suriya 45, is set to be an action-adventure project, bankrolled by Dream Warrior Pictures.

This production house is known for backing critically acclaimed blockbusters like Joker, Aruvi, Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, Kaithi, Sulthan, and Farhana. According to the producers, Suriya 45 will be the most expensive film in Dream Warrior Pictures’ portfolio to date, adding to the excitement surrounding the project. The combination of Suriya’s dynamic screen presence and Dream Warrior Pictures’ reputation for delivering high-quality, content-driven films has raised expectations for this collaboration.

The film will have music composed by AR Rahman. The Academy Award-winning composer has previously scored music for Suriya’s hit films like Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, Aayudha Ezhuthu, and 24. RJ Balaji, after his successful directorial venture Veetla Vishesham in 2022, is now fully immersed in the pre-production of Suriya 45. He has reportedly been working on the script for over a year and is now scouting for shooting locations. There has been no statement about the rest of the cast. With shooting set to commence in November this year, Suriya 45 is being positioned as a major cinematic event, with a planned release in late 2025.
