With its trailer launch at Comic-Con, 20th Century Studios generates excitement with a glimpse into a world where apes reign supreme and humans are hunted. Following that the Studio has offered an exclusive preview of the action-packed adventure ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’, set to hit theaters worldwide on May 10, 2024.
Sharing a clip on their social media handle, 20th Century Studios wrote, “Their kingdom awaits us. Enjoy this special look of #KingdomOfThePlanetOfTheApes Releasing in cinemas on May 10.”
Director Wes Ball revitalises the franchise, projecting it into a distant future following the era of Caesar, where apes rule while humans dwell in obscurity. Amidst the rise of a new authoritarian ape leader, a young ape embarks on a perilous journey that challenges his beliefs about the past and shapes the fate of both apes and humans.
In an interview with Collider, Wes Ball opened up about his efforts to make the movie as ‘live-action’ as possible, using less of CGI. “That, to me, was what was so surprising about this process. We probably had one blue screen set on the movie. For the most part, we’re out in real locations shooting with real actors,” he said.
“You just have to imagine that, ‘Oh, that’s going to be an ape doing that in a year.’ That’s the whole thing. How do you give spontaneity? That’s the thing for me,” Ball said.
‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’, helmed by Wes Ball (known for the ‘Maze Runner’ trilogy), features a stellar cast including Owen Teague (‘IT’), Freya Allan (‘The Witcher’), Kevin Durand (‘Locke & Key’), Peter Macon (‘Shameless’), and William H. Macy (‘Fargo’). The script is penned by Josh Friedman (‘War of the Worlds’), along with Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (‘Avatar: The Way of Water’) and Patrick Aison (‘Prey’).
The film will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages.
