With the success that actor Glen Powell witnessed after his exceptional performance in Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick, he has been in demand in Hollywood. And with his upcoming sci-fi remake of The Running Man, fans are sure he’s gonna rise to even greater heights, to which even Arnold Schwarzenegger has given his blessings.

More specifically, he’s the perfect candidate to recreate Harrison Ford’s films that were adapted from legendary author Tom Clancy’s literary works.

Glen Powell has the Chops to Revive Harrison Ford’s Action Era from the ’90s

While he may be part of some of the biggest franchises from the ’70s and ’80s, with the likes of Star Wars and Indiana Jones, there was a time when Harrison Ford had a brief experience in the ’90s action genre. He was most famous for playing the role of Jack Ryan in films like Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger.

And with a glance at Glen Powell’s past will be convinced that he can revive this era in the future. The most obvious depiction of him as a military man was in 2023’s Top Gun: Maverick, where he portrays LT. Jake “Hangman” Seresin. His performance as a devout pilot and a soldier will blend very well with Clancy’s military-inspired stories.

Along with that, his chops as both an espionage expert and a skilled fighter were seen in The Expendables 3 in the role of Thorn, who is an expert hacker, but still can keep up with the best brawlers. Thus, it will also entice filmmakers to take him in these projects, especially when most of Clancy’s works balance large-scale action and stealth.

The biggest project that the star is set to be a part of next is none other than the rumored Top Gun 3, which has been in talks for quite a while. While more details haven’t been shared yet, the development is continuing smoothly, with the story and the cast being assembled.

The other notable role he’s prepping for is titled Ghostwriter, which is a film that’s being directed by J.J. Abrams. It’s stated to be a fantasy film that will also star actors like Jenna Ortega and Samuel L. Jackson (via The Hollywood Reporter), although no more details about it have been provided yet.

At the other end of the spectrum, we also have him playing the role of the titular character of the Hulu sports/comedy series Chad Powers, which is currently airing on the streaming platform. The series is slated for a six-episode run, with its latest episode being its fourth, which was released.
