‘Assassination Classroom’ Reveals New Movie Featuring the Anime’s Biggest Untold Story
Assassination Classroom has announced a brand-new film, 10 years after the anime first aired. Assassination Classroom: Minna no Jikan is an upcoming animated feature set to release in 2026, which not only revisits the story of underachieving students tasked with killing their teacher, but also offers scenes that were not adapted when the show was still airing.
The upcoming film will feature the return of the show’s original voice cast, like Jun Fukuyama (Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War) as Korosensei, Tomokazu Sugita (Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle) as Karasuma, Mai Fuchigami (Persona 5) as Nagisa Shiota, Aya Suzaki (Genshin Impact) as Kaede Kayano, Nobuhiko Okamoto (My Hero Academia) as Karma Akabane, and many more. At the moment, the plot for the feature has yet to be revealed, and it’s currently unknown if there will be either an English dub or a Western release date.
Assassination Classroom: Minna no Jikan isn’t the only feature film based on Yusei Matsui‘s hit manga. In 2016, the movie Assassination Classroom: 365 Days was released, summarizing the entire anime series, as well as two live-action films: Assassination Classroom and Assassination Classroom: Graduation.
What’s ‘Assassination Classroom’ About?
Assassination Classroom follows a group of students in Class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Junior High, who are tasked with killing a tentacled creature named Korosensei before he blows up the Earth on the same day as their graduation. These students have a big task ahead of them: Not only do they have to assassinate this super-strong being who can move at Mach 20, they’re also bullied by other students for falling short of the school’s academic standards. To incentivize the assassination, the Department of Defense promised a ¥10 billion reward to those able to kill the creature. Additionally, the creature agrees to be these students’ teacher.
Throughout the two seasons, Korosensei’s presence in Class 3-E became a massive influence, helping the students’ grades and morale improve drastically, which caught the attention of those in the main building – especially the Big Five, a group of students who hold the highest marks of each of the five core subjects, and the principal, Gakuho Asano. As the assassination plot progresses, Korosensei and his students begin to build trust to the point where he shares not only his weaknesses but also his backstory.
Assassination Classroom: Minna no Jikan will enter Japanese theaters on March 20, 2026. Meanwhile, Seasons 1 and 2 of the anime series are available to stream on Crunchyroll. Follow Collider to keep up to date with the latest news.
