Ayushmann Khurrana has firmly cemented his position as one of Bollywood’s most dependable stars in 2025, delivering consecutive box office successes and reaffirming his strong connect with audiences. The actor’s recent festive release Thamma comfortably crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark, becoming his fifth film to enter the coveted club and also emerging as his biggest opener to date. Along with the success of Dream Girl 2, the film has placed Ayushmann on a solid commercial footing as he heads into 2026.

Reflecting on his recent run, the actor spoke about how the theatrical landscape has evolved post-pandemic and why the success feels especially rewarding. “The texture of the theatricals has changed post-pandemic, and in such a scenario, this success feels hugely affirming. My heart is full of gratitude that both Dream Girl 2 and Thamma were successful. I’m thrilled to be entering into 2026 with two consecutive Rs. 100 crore hits! In the new year. To begin with, I’m excited about Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, it’s a clean family comedy, and there is always a space for clean family comedies.”
Ayushmann is set to headline an interesting slate of four films next year, largely positioned as wholesome family entertainers. Among them is his much-anticipated collaboration with Sooraj Barjatya, a filmmaker synonymous with the genre. Speaking about the association, the actor shared, “And then I have Sooraj Barjatya sir’s next! For his stature, he’s a very simple man, very humble and hardworking at the same time… he’s a master of this genre and there is true dearth of this genre. No one does it better than Sooraj sir.”
He further elaborated on what sets Barjatya’s cinema apart, adding, “What excites me most about his film is that the hero isn’t just one character, the entire family takes centre stage in his family entertainers… In a Sooraj Barjatya film, the leading man is a quintessential green flag, which feels like a refreshing break from the clutter we see today.”
Beyond this, Ayushmann will begin shooting for the untitled YRF–Posham Pa project in early 2026 and will also see the release of his Dharma Sikhya-backed spy comedy, touted as a genre-breaker. Known for delivering strong returns relative to budgets, the actor takes pride in being a producer-friendly star. “I’m a producer-friendly actor… I take pride in being a collaborator first, rather than someone who is focused solely on being seen as the leading hero,” he said.
With successful franchises like Dream Girl, Badhaai Ho, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Thamma and Andhadhun to his credit, Ayushmann believes franchise credibility plays a key role in today’s selective theatrical environment.
