Aparshakti Khurana emphasizes the significance of selecting roles that prevent an actor from being pigeonholed, expressing his belief that his upcoming movie, Berlin, marks a step in that direction. Following a series of successful comedies like Stree, Pati Patni Aur Woh, and Luka Chuppi, Khurana shifted the public perception of his talents with his portrayal of the unassuming Binod Das, who transforms into the celebrated movie star Madan Kumar, in Vikramaditya Motwane’s web series Jubilee. He is set to appear in the 90s-set spy thriller mystery Berlin, directed by Atul Sabharwal, with the film having its premiere at the inaugural Red Lorry Film Festival in Mumbai this past Friday.

Khurana shared with PTI at the film festival, “As an actor, it’s important to do films which are different from how you perceive them. The first eight-nine films of my career were back-to-back comedies. People had a goofball kind of positioning for me in their heads. I wasn’t trying too hard to break that positioning or trying too hard to prove a point. I don’t want to get stereotyped as an actor who only does comedy or can only do serious parts. Hence, something like Berlin, which is absolutely opposite to my overall on-screen and off-screen persona.”

Berlin, produced by Zee Studios and Yippee Ki Yay Motion Pictures, features a cast that includes Rahul Bose, Kabir Bedi, and Anupriya Goenka. The Red Lorry Film Festival where it premiered will wrap up on Sunday.

His natural flair for comedy, combined with a genuine warmth on screen, has made him a favorite among directors looking for versatile actors who can bring depth and humor to their characters. Beyond acting, Aparshakti is also known for his talents as a singer and a television host, further showcasing his diverse artistic abilities. With each new role, Aparshakti continues to prove that he is a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry, always leaving audiences eagerly anticipating what he will do next.
